Dr Priyal Shah

 

Dr Priyal Shah – dentist and dietitian

Diabetes educator from Diabetes WA

Dr Shah is a dedicated healthcare professional with a dual expertise in dentistry and dietetics. Driven by a passion for understanding the intricate relationship between diet and chronic diseases, Priyal pursued further education, recently graduating with a Master’s in Dietetics with Honours from Curtin University. This educational journey was motivated by Priyal’s desire to bridge the gap between nutrition and dentistry, recognising the significant impact that dietary behaviours have on general health and therefore oral health. 

Dr Ramesh Balasubramaniam

A/Prof Ramesh Balasubramaniam is an oral medicine specialist. He has numerous peer reviewed publications, co-authored several chapters, and co-edited and co-authored two books notably “Contemporary Oral Medicine”. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. Ramesh is associate professor and discipline lead in Oral Medicine at the University of Western Australia Dental School and is actively involved in teaching and research. Along with working in private practice he has public appointments at OHCWA and PCH.

 

Dr Robert Delcanho

Adjunct Professor Robert Delcanho holds appointments at Notre Dame University, University of Sydney and University of Western Australia. He also maintains a private practice restricted to Orofacial Pain, Temporomandibular Disorders and Dental Sleep Medicine. He is past President of the ANZ Academy of Orofacial Pain, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and a Fellow, Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZ College of Anaesthetists. Rob has many peer reviewed publications, written textbook chapters, and acts as invited reviewer for submitted manuscripts to a number of scientific journals. He has an interest in the use of Botox for orofacial pain disorders.

Dr Roslyn Franklin

Dr Franklin has been working in the dental industry just on 30 years. She is a dentist, trainer and teacher of dental assistants, a writer of educational materials, and a passionate infection pre­vention and control consultant. She was recently nominated at a ‘fellow’ at the International College of Dentists, and was lead author for the chapter devoted to infection control in dental settings in the book Healthcare-Associated Infections in Australia: Principles and Practice of Infection Prevention and Control.

She is a member of the Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control, a registered dental practitioner with the Dental Board of Australian, member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and past ADA Western Australian branch councillor.  She has completed further education through post-graduate studies in infection prevention and control which allows her to stay ahead of the curve.

 Her passion lies in simplifying the overwhelming amount of information surrounding infection control and translating it into practical and applicable solutions.

 

Dr Steven Parker

Dr Parker graduated with honours from University of QLD in 1985. He was a dental officer in the Defence Forces for 17 years. Resigned with rank of LtCol. Steve has completed post-graduate dental qualifications in oral surgery and sedation and pain control, along with qualifications in financial planning and law and is a registered lawyer in NSW.

He is a director on two boards -  ADANSW and Lakeview Private Hospital.

He is on many committees including the Dental Therapeutics committee and he is the Chair of the Conscious Sedation advisory panel to the Dental Board.

He is also an advisor for the next edition of the Therapeutics Guidelines – Oral and Dental (the clown book).

He owns the Wisdom Teeth Centre in North West Sydney which is a referral based oral surgery practice where he provides treatment under GA and all types of sedation.

He has given lectures for the ADA for over two decades on the topics of anxiety control, pain control and oral surgery.

Dr Tom Elliott

Dr. Tom Elliott has completed a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics (MClinDent) with Distinction. He was awarded  Membership in Restorative Dentistry for Prosthodontics (MRD Pros) by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He emigrated to Australia in 2017 and completed a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics (DCD Pros) at UWA.

Tom currently works as a specialist prosthodontist at Centre For Prosthodontics, located in South Perth.

Dr Tom Huang

Dr Tom Huang graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science and a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry specialising in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology.    

Since graduation, Tom has worked exclusively in comprehensive private radiology practices. He has also held positions of visiting lecturer, clinical supervisor and external examiner at the University of Queensland, School of Dentistry and the University of Western Australia, School of Dentistry. Tom has also presented topics in radiology and radiography internationally and continues to have research interests in Cone Beam Computed Tomography. Tom has published papers in peer reviewed journals and was a contributing author for the Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2017) and the ADA’s Practical Guide to Dental Radiology (2019).

Tom currently consults at Envision Medical Imaging in Perth and O-RAD, an online reporting service.​

 

 

Dr Udit Bhatnagar

Dr Udit Bhatnagar BOHDSc, GDipDent, DClinDent (Paed Dent), FPFA Dr Udit Bhatnagar is a specialist paediatric dentist. He obtained his undergraduate dental degree from Griffith University (QLD) in 2010 and his postgraduate specialty degree in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of Melbourne (VIC) in 2016. Udit has been based in Sydney for most of his career working at Sydney Dental Hospital as a Staff Consultant as well as in private practice. He recently relocated to Perth with his family and is working in private practice. Udit is heavily involved in continuing education with hours’ worth of his content available through ADA CPD online as well as his hands-on courses, which he has been providing for many years.

Dr Victor Matsubara

Dr. Victor Matsubara is an Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Western Australia. He earned both his PhD and Master’s degree from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and has additional training in oral implantology. Dr. Matsubara is deeply committed to education, having supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in both pre-clinical and clinical environments. His dedication to academic excellence is reflected in his recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Additionally, he is a distinguished Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Academy of Dentistry International.
