No roots left behind: Hands-on surgical extraction techniques

This course will allow participants the opportunity to extract a variety of teeth on cadavers with an oral surgeon looking over their shoulder.

Description

This course will allow participants the opportunity to extract a variety of teeth on cadavers with an oral surgeon looking over their shoulder. This will enable the participant to ask questions during the procedure and for the oral surgeon to offer tips and suggestions on extraction.

You will have the opportunity carry out a surgical procedure to recover fractured roots.

There will be one head per two participants. Due to the nature of the course, availability of teeth to be extracted will vary.

* Please note that this course will be carried out on cadavers

This is a limited attendance course

A minimum number of participants is required for this course to proceed.

Presenters

Professor Ray Williamson is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He worked in WA for 20 years before spending a number of years in Ireland. He returned to WA in 2021. Ray engages with dentistry outside the box, having been a Navy Dentist and a Navy Diver, working in Hyperbaric Medicine. He was a member of the Specialist Medical Team for the Wallabies Rugby Union team, Western Force Rugby Union team and the WA Reds Rugby League team. Ray has also worked as an Archaeologist in Egypt, Mexico and South America.
