No Roots Left Behind: Hands-on surgical extraction techniques
This course will allow participants the opportunity to extract a variety of teeth on cadavers with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon looking over their shoulder.
Description
This course will allow participants the opportunity to extract a variety of teeth on cadavers with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon looking over their shoulder. This will enable the participant to ask questions during the procedure and for the oral and maxillofacial surgeon to offer tips and suggestions on extraction. There will be a lecture with handout notes provided before commencing the hands-on component.
You will have the opportunity carry out a surgical procedure to recover fractured roots.
There will be one head per two participants. Due to the nature of the course, availability of teeth to be extracted will vary.

Dr Frank Chang is dually qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who completed his surgical trainings in Perth and was awarded the fellowship of the royal Australian college of dental surgeons. He then went to England for subspecialist training in Temporomandibular joint surgery through college of surgeons of England and College of surgeons of Edinburgh.
Dr Frank Chang has special interest in the surgical management of temporomandibular joint pathology and disorders and total TMJ replacement and arthroscopic surgery, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery for dento-facial deformities and airway and sleep surgery for obstructive sleep apnoea, distraction osteogenesis and practices full scopes of practice in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, implantology and oral pathology.
He currently practices privately in South Perth and has public consultant positions at Royal Perth Hospital where he is involved in training future surgeons. He is also involved in various committees at the RACDS and director of training for Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons.
