Description
This course provides general dentists with a comprehensive, practical understanding of contemporary endodontics—from diagnosis and case selection through to safe canal negotiation, instrumentation, root filling and management of procedural errors. Delivered through a theory webinar prior to the course and a full-day hands-on workshop, the course focuses on predictable techniques for curved and calcified canals, MB2 location, and complication management, including ledge bypassing and perforation repair.

Learning objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
• Diagnose pulpal and periapical pathoses confidently
• Assess case difficulty using recognised criteria
• Design safe access cavities for all tooth types
• Locate and negotiate canals, including MB2 and calcified systems
• Shape canals predictably using rotary/reciprocating instrumentation
• Perform safe and effective root filling techniques
• Prevention and management of procedural errors such as ledges, fractured instruments, and perforations
Presenters
A/Prof Mehdi Rahimi is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Charles Sturt University (Orange). Mehdi graduated with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery with distinction from the University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2002 and received his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Endo) degree from the University of Melbourne in 2008. He has been actively involved in Endodontic teaching at various continued education levels, both nationally and internationally. Mehdi is a guest lecturer at Sydney and Melbourne Universities and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Charles Sturt University (Orange). He is a member of the RACDS a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists and Federal President of the Australian Society of Endodontists (ASE),
Dr Paul Nakad completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Melbourne in 2017. Subsequently, Paul practised general dentistry in the south-western region of Sydney in a private practice for three years. In 2021, he began further specialised training at the University of Melbourne, where he received the Ephraim Erhmann Prize in Endodontics. Paul’s research project for his minor thesis delved into the intricate realm of electrical properties associated with Nickel-titanium rotary instruments.
