The Oral-Gut Axis: What Happens Beyond the Mouth? (FREE EVENT)
The oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract are home to two of the body's most complex microbial ecosystems. Designed specifically for dental professionals, this session will separate evidence from all the misinformation and explore what happens beyond the mouth.
Description
|
The oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract are home to two of the body's most complex microbial ecosystems. While traditionally studied separately, emerging evidence suggests these systems are closely interconnected, with oral microbes influencing inflammatory pathways, microbial communities and health outcomes far beyond the mouth. This presentation explores the oral-gut axis through the lens of contemporary microbiome science. Attendees will gain an overview of the emerging evidence linking oral microbial communities to gut and systemic health, and an appreciation for how microbiome science is reshaping our understanding of oral health. |
Designed specifically for dental professionals, this session will separate evidence from all the misinformation and explore what happens beyond the mouth.
